Chegutu Municipality and its stakeholders formulated the Council Strategic Plan at a workshop held from the 17th - 19th November 2020 in Harare.
Participants for the workshop comprised Councillors, Council officials, the District Development Coordinator, representatives of the Chegutu Municipal Workers’ Committee, Chegutu Residents Trust, and a representative of the Chegutu Business Development Association. The strategic plan was prepared in terms of the targets outlined in the national economic blueprint, the National Development Strategy I. Some of the key priorities in the Municipal Strategic Plan for 2021-2023 include completion of the sewer network rehabilitation project targeting the network servicing residents, water network upgrading, housing and provision, improvements in the corporate governance framework as well as revenue mobilization for improved service delivery and capital development. Chegutu Municipality has targeted to be a key facilitator and player on local economic development (LED) and contribute significantly towards the growth of the provincial and national economy, in line with the devolution thrust.
