Chegutu Municipality hosted a team of Service Level Benchmarking (SLB) Peer Reviewers from the 19th -20th March 2020.
The team, headed by the Town Clerk for Redcliff Municipality, comprised officials from different local authorities as well as the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works officials. Local stakeholders who included the District Development Coordinator, representatives of SMEs, residents associations, churches, Environmental Management Agency, Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) and Chegutu Rural District Council participated during the field visits to the raw water abstraction dam (Clifton Dam), Water Treatment Plant, Sewer Stabilisation Ponds, and the dump site. The peer reviewers assessed performance of Council in the water supply, waste water and solid waste management as well as roads and public safety and corporate governance portfolios of Council. The team noted some significant improvements registered since the last peer review exercise conducted in 2019 for the year 2018. However, of concern was the need to reduce non-revenue water so as to improve revenue inflows from water supply.
