Launch of the Chegutu District Monthly Clean-up Campaign

In line with the Presidential Declaration on Monthly Clean-up Campaigns, the District Administrator for Chegutu, Mr. Tomu launched the District Clean-up programme at the TM/OK Car Park within the Chegutu Municipality CBD on Friday 01 February 2019. Being the first Friday of the month, Chegutu Municipal Councillors and staff, Chegutu RDC Councillors and staff, Government Departments led by the District Administrator, Chicken Inn staff, TM & OK Supermarkets’ staff, Zimplats management and staff, Nursing staff and other employees from the Chegutu District Hospital, Econet staff and various other corporate organisations went around their respective workplaces picking up litter and then proceeded to clean up streets within the Chegutu Municipal CBD area. Chicken Inn donated 10 street bins while Zimplats assisted with pokers and brooms.

The clean-up culminated in the District launch by the District Administrator at the OK/TM Car Park. The District Administrator appreciated the high turn-out and emphasised the need for ensuring cleanliness at all times both in residential places, workplaces and within the streets. The Member of Parliament for Chegutu West, Hon. D. Nduna who also addressed the gathering called upon residents to partner Council towards ensuring cleanliness within their various environments to avoid spread of diseases. He noted that while Council was doing a good job in collecting refuse, the support of residents was critical. In his remarks to the gathering, His Worship the Mayor of Chegutu Municipality, Cllr. H. Muchatibaya, appreciated the work being done by various stakeholders of Chegutu Municipality who support Council clean-up programmes and other service delivery initiatives. He called upon them to continue supporting Council for improved service delivery. He appreciated stakeholders for the high turn-out to the clean-up campaign.
